Lawsuit Filed Over Prevagen Supplements
A Well-Known Company Faces Regulatory Scrutiny Over Memory-Boosting Supplement
In recent news, a prominent company offering a dietary supplement known as Prevagen has found itself in hot water. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has requested that the company cease its claims of enhancing memory. These claims have been prominently displayed in captivating advertisements, promising consumers improved cognitive skills and a sharper brain.
However, it appears that there may be some issues with the extravagant assertions made by the company. The New York Attorney General has stepped in, stating that the scientific evidence supporting these claims is lacking, labeling it as fraudulent advertising. One of the main concerns is the company’s aggressive marketing tactics, targeting an older demographic – a vulnerable group that is seeking relief from memory-related issues.
Prevagen is not an inexpensive product, with prices ranging up to $69. Despite the high cost, Americans have purchased an astounding $165 million worth of this supplement. The joint complaint filed by the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission highlights the fact that the company’s own clinical study failed to demonstrate any significant improvement in the treatment group compared to the placebo group. Quincy Bioscience, the company behind Prevagen, strongly denies these allegations and insists that hundreds of thousands of people have attested to its effectiveness and its positive impact on their lives. According to the company, they have amassed a large body of evidence supporting the supplement’s ability to enhance memory and promote a healthy brain function.
In response to the growing concerns, the FDA has reached out to Quincy Bioscience regarding the composition and marketing of the supplement. Additionally, the FDA has conducted inspections at two locations belonging to Quincy’s.
As this case unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Prevagen’s claims of memory improvement will stand up to regulatory scrutiny. The FDA’s involvement and the legal proceedings initiated by the New York Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission cast a shadow of doubt over the supplement’s effectiveness. It is essential to ensure that companies provide accurate and reliable information to consumers, particularly when it comes to matters affecting their health and well-being.
I admit I bought it beyond didn't WORK for me.
My husband was taking Prevagen for several months. He ended up with inflammation in his brain and was on life support for almost a week. He was very ill. He was in the hospital for about 7 weeks. He had just instantly lost most of his memory. After some research, the doctors believed it was caused by the prevagen.

They should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much money for a supplement. When they first started they were fair but now they are thieves and robbers who overcharge for a product that is a supplement . Like I said thieves and robbers.

Good grief. I take Prevagen and I cannot overstate how much it has helped me. Whether it is the ingredients or even possibly placebo effect, I don't care. It has helped me immeasurably and I won't ever stop using it. My memory is back! This attack on Prevagen is no doubt coming from its competitors. There is no truth in marketing anymore. It is ever and only "he who gets there first wins" kind of mentality. Ridiculous.
I used Prevagen professional formula for 5 months I did not notice any difference whatsoever in my brain function. I won't be throwing my money away anymore on this product
