We always had a growth of applemint in whichever house we lived in, when I was growing up. Whenever we had new potatoes (at least every Sunday lunch), we always put a few sprigs of the mint into the boil…and not only did it add flavour to the potatoes; it also fragranced the house whilst we were cooking with it…!!! ππ

Is menthol a defense chemical? As such a potent chemical, it would stand to reason that the mind plant family developed menthol to prevent animals from eating mint plants.
I got a bunch of mint from the food pantry. I trimmed the bottoms and put them in water. They rooted and now I have a pot of mint growing in my medicinal container garden too.
